North Cornwall Commons is a building constructed of ICF; Insulated Concrete Form. This type of construction is optimal for an apartment building. It aids in building efficiency and sound mitigation. Throughout the design process, Hex 9 needed to consider all placement of exterior penetrations. Unlike other construction types, once the building is erected any exterior wall openings cannot be changed. The project required significant coordination with all trades to ensure mechanical, electrical and plumbing were all located correctly prior to installation. Each unit is designed with a full kitchen, bath, one to two bedrooms and an exterior balcony. This building is one of four at the complex and is situated on a lot with various tenant amenities and other housing options.
