Lapps Toys is located in the heart of Lancaster County and produces handmade Amish wooden toys. The owners wanted to revamp their existing toy store to attract the tourist business in the area. Hex 9 assisted in reevaluating their marketing and design standards in order to make their products stand out in the modern toy market. The existing retail space was designed to become more of a playground for children visiting the store. Typical architectural features were reimagined to create a whimsical environment. Columns became wooden trees, flooring became grass and pathways. And painted walls became mountains in the far distance. The renovation of the existing space included new finishes, flooring, lighting and a new store layout. Custom window treatments and display units were designed utilizing the wooden craftsmanship of the Amish craftsmen at Lapp’s Toys.
